He has been working in a project for making data of a centralized Hadoop cluster public within the company. In the project, he created and has been maintaining a well access controlled and scalable web based data analysis platform named "OASIS". The company's employees analyze and visualize data by writing Spark application code and Presto queries, and share the results within their team or department on the platform.​

She is currently a senior data scientist and big data developer at Eurecat technology center. Moreover, Liana is an Adjunct Professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Her professional interests include the design and development of intelligent decision support systems, using big data technological stack, optimisation and machine learning techniques.

Juan Carlos Castro holds an MBA from IESE Business School and Bsc in Computer Engineering from the UAB. During his more than 15 years of professional experience in the Digital sector and in public-private environments, he has played different management roles in Capgemini, Hewlett-Packard, Grifols and i2CAT.

In the eHealth-related domain, he has been principal entity investigator of finished projects Help4Mood (FP7-ICT-2009, http://help4mood.info ), Fearless (AAL-Call 3, http://www.aal-europe.eu/projects/fearless/ ) and Life 2.0 (CIP-PSP-2010, https://cordis.europa.eu/project/rcn/191746_en.html), with special focus in the research area of User Centered Design to deliver technology solutions that solve patient needs.

He is currently responsible for digital product development at the Eurecat technology center, identifying new market opportunities in the fields of Digital Health, Marketing, Retail and Tourism, through the application of Big Data, IoT, Artificial Intelligence and advanced analysis technologies Social Networks.

Before this position, he was Lead Data Scientist of the Advisory & Predictive Models team. The team put into production several machine learning models to improve the user experience of the BBVA app. Prior to BBVA, he was Area Manager for Machine Learning at Xerox Research and has 10 years of experience in industrial innovation with machine learning solutions, in application areas such as banking, document workflow automation, or traffic sensing. With a PhD in Computer Vision, he has co-authored top-tier publications and over 20 patents. Fascinated by solving real-world problems with state-of-the-art AI and making machine learning easy to use by non-experts.

Max is a software engineer and PMC member of Apache Flink and Apache Beam. During his studies at Free University of Berlin and Istanbul University, he worked at Zuse Institute Berlin on Scalaris, a distributed transactional database. Inspired by the principles of distributed systems and open-source, he helped to develop Apache Flink at dataArtisans and, in the course of, joined the Apache Beam community. After maintaining the SQL layer of the distributed database CrateDB, he is now working on the cross-language portability aspects of Apache Beam.

Situated in the Raval district, the Centre’s core theme is the city and urban culture. Conveniently located within 1km from central Barcelona and close to metro and city busses.
